I think Trump has really dropped the ball regarding CoViD-19. Not only are more people dying avoidably and the economy has to suffer longer, but we are not learning a valuable lesson from the infection.
Perhaps you know an alcoholic or drug addict who was a jerk when they were using, but struggled and finally got clean, and now they're a valuable friend. Or someone who got cancer and became more serene as they went to all their doctor's appointments.
CoViD is not a finite game where we know how to end it. It requires long-term discipline, in all the hand-washing and mask-wearing. If we practice this discipline, we will become more conscious of how we go in the world and how we affect other people, and in the end this will make us happier and kinder people.
Trump might not take such things seriously, nor his followers, but it doesn't mean that the rest of us can't.
It just so happens we're also encountering social justice. I think this will benefit from our CoViD discipline.
