From JTA today, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was inaugural recipient of the Moment Human Rights Award, where she was interviewed by Nina Totenberg, NPR legal affairs correspondent, as they sat on the dais surrounded by well-wishers. “...shocked whispers rippled throughout the crowd …  when Totenberg asked if Ginsburg had any regrets about not stepping down during the Obama administration,”

“It has been suggested by more than one commentator, including some law professors, that I should’ve stepped down during President Obama’s second term. When that suggestion is made I ask the question: Who do you think the president could nominate that could get through the Republican Senate that you would prefer to have on the court than me?” Ginsburg replied to loud applause.
